SUMMARY

The Volunteer Engagement and Hotline Coordinator will work as part of the Intervention Division/Emergency Response Team under the supervision of the Chief Program and Operations Officer. The candidate is responsible for the supervision of POV Volunteers and coordination of POV’s 24-hour Hotline and co-facilitation of POV’s 72-hour counselor advocate trainings. The VEHC oversees the scheduling and coordination of POV’s hotline and accompaniment response and coordinates and provides training to volunteers via counselor advocate training and in-service meetings. Other responsibilities include taking hotline shifts, tracking trends, and coordinating speakers for future trainings.

The Volunteer Engagement and Hotline Coordinator will develop and maintain a volunteer recruitment plan, coordinate volunteer appreciation events, assisting with updating POV’s information referral database, and update materials. The ideal candidate will display resourcefulness, flexibility, and a strong ability to manage multiple projects and possess excellent supervisory and public speaking skills. The candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, intimate partner stalking, elder abuse intervention and ability to write and speak clearly with confidence. The ideal candidate must have the ability to be on call periodically for the hotline and for volunteers.    

Volunteer Coordination and Engagement

  • Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (social media, outreach events, speaking engagements, media interviews, email, etc.)

  • Collect volunteer information and create volunteer profiles

  • Track all volunteer information, files with required information per funder requirements

  • Prepare volunteer assignments within the organization and/or divisions

  • Develop a recruitment and outreach plan for new volunteers

  • Train and supervise Volunteer Counselor Advocates and Voice Over Violence volunteers

  • Co-Coordinate volunteer events, appreciation, activities for POV volunteers

  • Provide on-call support and supervision for Counselor Advocates and Consultants on hotline

  • Co-facilitate trainings for new volunteer advocates according to CALOES requirements

  • Work with agency staff in recruiting, screening, interviewing new volunteer trainees who will respond to the 24 hour hotline and emergency response

  • Update training material as needed. This may include information referral, training manual, and statistics.

  • Co coordinate and facilitate monthly in-service meeting for volunteers with other Volunteer Coordinators, supervisors.

  • Track volunteer hours.

  • Provide direct support, supervision, evaluation and letters or recommendation to volunteers.

Direct Services/Coordination:

  • Provide direct services to survivors through 24 hour crisis line and/or walk-ins on a regular basis when volunteers are not available. This position will be a back-up, on call rotating shifts with other program staff.

  • Provide follow up calls for callers and/or survivors for continuation of services and assessment.

  • Coordinate 24 hour on-call schedule for Hotline and Consultants back-ups.

  • Provide training during POV’s Counselor Advocate Training.

  • Co-coordinate monthly in service meetings/trainings.

  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and build relationships with other partner agencies in LA County

  • Provide educational workshops, trainings regarding POV’s services, volunteer opportunities to community members and partner agencies.

  • Assist in the development of protocols and procedures for hotline and volunteer management

Administrative

  • Adhere to necessary grant requirements

  • Maintain and submit monthly reports

  • Attend schedule internal meetings with division and supervisor

  • Maintain accurate timesheets and agency paperwork

  • Maintain appropriate standards of confidentiality

  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, administration or related field

  • Two years previous experience in data entry or equivalent experience in a related field

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Able to quickly and accurately type and enter data;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have completed or intend to complete POV’s 72-hour training; upon completion be current with the sexual assault continuing education training requirements

  • Ability to work as part of a team with other agency staff and volunteers

  • Have own car and valid California driver’s license and auto insurance

  • Computer literacy required
