SUMMARY

Peace Over Violence is seeking an on-call (4 hours per week) licensed Psychologist, to provide comprehensive, trauma-informed mental health treatment to participants enrolled in our Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) program. This position works with a multidisciplinary team consisting of case managers, clinicians and a psychiatrist, to provide trauma-focused, evidence-based mental health treatment and crisis intervention to survivors of crime. The Psychologist will provide diagnostic testing and therapeutic services to participants, clinical consultation and training to staff across programs, and clinical supervision for unlicensed clinicians. This position is a member of the Clinical Department and will report directly to the Director of Clinical Services (DCS).   

DUTIES

  • Engage participants in clinical assessment (including diagnostic testing), treatment planning, and individual or group psychotherapy as needed 

  • Assist staff with crisis intervention and model de-escalation techniques as needed. 

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations as it pertains to SSI and SSDI applications 

  • Provide trainings to staff across programs 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, staff and community partners 

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of interventions and services provided to participants 

  • Fulfill mandated reporting obligations and complete required documentation in a timely manner 

  • Participate in and facilitate internal and external meetings as scheduled 

  • Provide regular, written reports to the DCS and additional reports as assigned. 

  • Comply with local, state, and federal confidentiality laws and regulations. 

  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization 

SUPERVISION/ADMINISTRATION/TRAINING

  1. Assist in the training of interns/trainees 

  2. Assist the DCS to develop Counseling Services policies, procedures, and protocols 

  3. Prepares monthly and quarterly reports as needed 

  4. Assist with Volunteer Counselor Training 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Psychologist, PhD Psychologist, or EdD (Doctor of Educational Psychology) required

  • If this candidate provides professional services outside of POV, their own personal malpractice insurance should cover claims outside of DWC’s operations and they must provide proof of their personal medical insurance for POV records.

  • Clinical supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of the complexity of poverty and women’s homelessness, mental illness, trauma, substance abuse, and health issues; knowledge of relevant Evidence-Based Practices (Trauma- Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction) required

  • Crisis intervention experience, and familiarity and comfort working with issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health diagnosis, and history of trauma required

  • Oral and written fluency in English required; Spanish a plus 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
