Domestic Violence Specialist/Case Manager I Family Justice Center

SALARY
February 2025, Full-Time, non-exempt 
$26.37 hourly / $48,000 yearly

SUMMARY
The Domestic Violence Case Manager will be reasonable for providing trauma informed services to survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. This role includes in-person assistance, advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, case management and referral to community resources. The Case Manager will work closely with survivors to guide them through various systems (legal, medical, housing, social services) while empowering them on their path to healing. 

The ideal candidate will have strong organization, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills; keen attention to detail; and possess excellent strong public speaking skills. Candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of sexual assault and/or domestic violence, child abuse/neglect and intervention skills. 

Responsibilities

Case Management and Advocacy: 

  • Provide comprehensive case management services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. 

  • Assist survivors in developing safety plans, setting goals, accessing necessary resources. 

  • Advocate for survivors within legal, medical, and social services systems. 

  • Accompany clients to court hearings, law enforcement interviews, medical appointments, and other necessary meetings or appointments. 

  • Provide crisis intervention and support to survivors in-person and via the crisis hotline.

  • Conduct a needs assessment and create individualized services plan.

  • Provide trauma informed, client centered support that respects survivor autonomy and decision making, while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Maintain strong relationship with local shelters, social service agencies, law enforcement and community organizations.

  • Educate survivors on their rights, options and available community resources.

  • Provide community education and awareness on domestic violence and POV services.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential clients’ records in accordance with Peace Over Violence policies and legal requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with grant and program reporting requirements.

  • Enter client data and activities into data base system, tracking and reportclient outcomes and effectiveness of domestic violence services.

  • Assist with funder reporting requirements.

Administrative Duties:

  • Adhere to necessary grant requirements for statistical tracking

  • Prepare and maintain monthly progress reports of program activities

  • Ensure completion of client record data-entry forms & other related file upkeep in a timely manner

  • Ensure work schedule is entered into paychex system and complete monthly timesheets in a timely manner. 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Attend scheduled meetings

  • Attend in-services, agency staff meeting, annual agency functions, and other agency meetings as needed

  • Other duties may be assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention, domestic violence, sexual abuse, child abuse/neglect, stalking.

  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault or trauma affected populations.

  • Completed or intend to complete Peace Over Violence’s 82-hour Crisis Intervention, Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence training.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with criminal justice and social service agencies members.

  • Ability to work with clients, volunteers and staff in a non-judgmental manner.

  • Ability to relate in a empathetic, supportive, non-judgmental manner to victims and their families.

  • Demonstrate initiative and professionalism; ability to work independently & maintain workload.

  • Strong & effective oral & written communication skills; public speaking, facilitating group discussions.

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people; comfortable with L.A. & Pasadena communities.

  • Capacity to balance and provide self-care while meeting the demands of a crisis center.

  • Computer Literacy required: email, word documents, internet basics, data software.

  • Flexible Schedule to fit varying shifts; capacity to work some weekends.

  • Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.

  • Must pass background checks.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required based on client needs.
