Verizon Wireless
Hopeline® Corporate Award 2008
Frank J. Quevedo—Vice President, Equal Opportunity, Southern California Edison

We are proud to honor Southern California Edison and Frank Quevedo with the 2008 Verizon Wireless Hopeline ® Corporate Humanitarian Award. Southern California Edison is an ambitious and innovative utility whose commitment extends beyond supplying power and investing in green technology—to the very communities they serve and over 14,000 employees. SCE provides electricity to 13 million people, 180 cities, in 11 counties in California everyday. It is the largest provider of renewable energy in the United States. SCE has a strong commitment to energy efficiency, environmental protection, community, education, and diversity. This is SCE’s seventh consecutive year ranking in the top tier of Fortune magazine’s annual list of the top 50 companies in America for ethnic minorities, which highlights the company’s commitment to develop a work force of first-rate professionals that embraces diversity and reflects the customers it serves.

We honor SCE and their most visible champion for corporate and community involvement, Frank Quevedo, Vice President of Equal Opportunity. Quevedo originally joined SCE in 1971 and was named a vice president in 1996. He is responsible for guiding the organization’s commitment to work-force diversity and equal opportunity for all employees, and is a recognized leader in this field.

Quevedo brings an important voice to organizations committed to equity, access and equal opportunity. In 2008, Quevedo championed Peace Over Violence’s Denim Day, which brought sexual violence awareness to SCE’s 14,000 employees.

Frank’s commitment to fairness, justice, and equal opportunity for all—especially ethnic minorities, women and children is unparalleled.
